이 작업은 프란츠 카프카의 『변신』에 등장하는 사물들을 기준으로 구성된 8권의 연작이다. 각 권은 하나의 사물을 중심으로 원문, 각주, 이미지를 다시 배열하며, 소설 속에서 주변에 놓여 있던 사물들이 독해의 출발점이 되도록 한다. 본문은 원래의 지면 비율을 유지한 채 큰 판형 안에 배치되고, 각주 기호는 이미지를 호출하는 장치로 작동한다. 이때 이미지는 단순한 삽화가 아니라 텍스트와 각주 사이에 개입하는 또 하나의 파라텍스트가 된다. 표지에는 각 권의 사물 이름이 반복된다. 반복 횟수는 카프카의 원문에서 해당 사물이 언급된 빈도를 따른다. 이 연작은 사물, 텍스트, 각주, 이미지가 한 화면 안에서 얽히는 방식을 통해 『변신』을 선형적 서사가 아닌 비선형적 읽기의 구조로 다시 펼쳐낸다.

This work is an eight-volume series structured around the objects that appear in Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis. Each volume centers on a single object, rearranging the original text, footnotes, and images so that the objects—once peripheral within the novel—become the starting point of reading. The original pages are placed within enlarged formats while maintaining their original proportions, and footnote markers function as devices that call up images. In this structure, images do not operate as simple illustrations, but as another layer of paratext intervening between text and annotation. On each cover, the object’s name is repeated according to the number of times it appears in Kafka’s original text. Through the entanglement of objects, text, footnotes, and images within a single visual field, the series reconstructs Metamorphosis as a nonlinear reading structure rather than a linear narrative.
